1. Non-Binding Engineering Estimation
The mathematical models, classification predictions, dimensional calculations, linear foot visualizers, and accessorial cost estimators provided by FreightDock Math (freightdockmath.com) are intended solely as pre-shipment engineering estimations and educational reference tools for commercial shipping professionals. FreightDock Math is not a motor carrier, freight forwarder, or property broker.
All freight class determination results, density calculations, and financial penalty projections are derived from public regulatory standards (including NMFTA Dockets 2025-1, 2025-2, and 2026-1) and general industry benchmarks. They do not constitute a legally binding quote, formal contract of carriage, or rate guarantee from any individual motor carrier.
2. Precedence of Carrier Rules Tariffs and Pricing Agreements
In North American commercial freight transportation, freight charges are strictly governed by the specific motor carrier's individual rules tariff (e.g. FedEx Freight 100, Old Dominion 559, Saia 170, Estes 105, R+L 100), the shipper's customized contract pricing agreement, and the provisions of the legally executed Bill of Lading (BOL). In the event of any conflict between calculations produced by FreightDock Math and a participating carrier's published rules tariff, the carrier's contractual tariff terms shall in all cases take legal precedence.
CERTIFIED CARRIER SCALE RE-WEIGH PRECEDENCE
Carrier terminal scales and automated dimensioners certified by state departments of weights and measures (NIST Handbook 44) establish the legal-for-trade billing weight and dimensions under standard carrier contract terms. Shippers must retain independent certified scale tickets and calibrated photographs to dispute carrier inspection certificates.
3. NMFTA Trademark Notice
NMFC® and National Motor Freight Classification® are registered trademarks of the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. (NMFTA). FreightDock Math is an independent technical engineering publication and is not affiliated with, authorized by, sponsored by, or endorsed by the NMFTA. Any references to NMFC item numbers, subprovisions, or classification classes are used strictly for technical identification and fair-use descriptive purposes pursuant to United States trademark law.
4. Carmack Amendment Cargo Liability Disclaimers
Shippers are advised that under the Carmack Amendment (49 U.S.C. § 14706) and standard motor carrier rules tariffs, carrier liability for loss, damage, or destruction of cargo is strictly limited by the freight class assigned to the shipment. Typically, lower freight classes (e.g. Class 50 through 70) carry significantly lower carrier released value liability caps (e.g. $1.00 to $5.00 per pound) compared to higher classes (e.g. Class 250 through 400 at $15.00 to $25.00 per pound). FreightDock Math accepts no liability for claims disputes arising from released value cargo limitations.
5. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall FreightDock Math, its developers, operators, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages—including, without limitation, freight rate re-bills, weight and inspection fees, accessorial surcharges, delayed transit claims, cargo damage rejections, or loss of business profits—arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use this website or its calculation tools.
6. Changes to Terms & Governing Law
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time without prior notice. These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States of America.
